![]() ![]() If you are to reshape, recolor or edit somehow the tiles from the pack that were made by me, please don't take credit on your own and link to this page or my personal art accounts: /raxec14 and /raxec2 Same, if you'll use my tiles, credit me as Raxec. For commercial projects, they're free to use as long as I get a free copy of the game. Free to use in your Noncommercial games. zip, I point out which these are and which were made entirely by me There are some tiles from the pack that were taken as such from the original RTP (you should own VX Ace in order for you to use them). All packs are based and organized as the default tilesets the software comes with. If you notice any weird shapes in the building of your maps, lemme know so I can repost a needed edit. I couldn't upload a demo image of a map but here we are. This is my first attempt for pixel art but I've learned a lot by watching videos and reading anatomy of tilesets and how they behave. I wanted to bring some variety to my game by adding some textures on my own and not to depend so much from Kadokawa RTP –as sometimes it's hard to get really cool and modern tilesets for VX Ace nowadays, or even assets in general. Most of them follow the same pattern for default tiles from Outside or Dungeon pack. I decided to give a little bit of contribution to your making with a tileset pack. ![]() It can CHANGE a map! It conveys time (daytime? nighttime?), warmth (warm colors versus cool), and feelings and emotions (unease, anxiety, safety, sadness, etc.!).Happy holidays guys. (In the example above, the bg color was chosen.) If you don’t choose a background color for your map, and it is transparent, RPG Maker will make it black on default! (When you press “Play!”) Here’s the map with the trees! (I edited the tree tilesets via cutting off their stumps, and for the background trees, I did an overlay of darker colors.)Įither method is fine. With Tilesets, you just need to take the tiles and just place them wherever you want (with placement in mind)! (Layers are particularly important if characters can walk under something!) You can draw anything you want! And wherever! Just keep in mind the placement and the layers. This is me drawing onto the map directly. With Parallax Mapping, you can use tilesets or you can just draw onto the map itself! One method isn’t better than the other, just do what you feel most comfortable with!Ĥ: Mapping - “Freehand” Mapping versus Tilesets (Just start drawing and putting things down wherever you like! Just keep in mind the dimensions!) You can start with a sketch and plan out your map as to where you want things to go and how it’d look like: (Planning) (Of course, if you want things to be tinier or bigger than the sprite, that’s great too!)īefore we move onto mapping, lower the opacity of the grid. Having your sprite on your map will help with sizing and scaling! You can make items and furniture to be proportional with your sprite! The example above is 544x416, the regular window screen size of VX Ace.This will help you with mapping and placement! (More info on that later!) Mini Tutorial: This example is with VX Ace’s dimensions (32x32). MV uses 48x48.ĭimensions are important for placement and eventing/programming! This is important because each program (XP, VX Ace, MV, etc.!) uses different dimensions.Įxample: VX Ace uses 32x32. Important Question: What rpg maker program are you using? Parallax Mapping! (You can do this with tiles or no tiles!) ![]()
